Let's go Fly a Kite

Yesterday I climbed up a tree in the park and got a kite that had been stuck up there. It still had a decent bit of string tied to it, so we flew it around a bit, it is good fun trying to keep it up there in the azure.

Let's Go Fly a Kite - from Marry Poppins

Mr. Banks:
With tuppence for paper and strings
You can have your own set of wings
With your feet on the ground
You're a bird in a flight
With your fist holding tight
To the string of your kite

Oh, oh, oh!
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite!

Bert:
When you send it flyin' up there
All at once you're lighter than air
You can dance on the breeze
Over 'ouses and trees
With your first 'olding tight
To the string of your kite

Londoners:
Oh, oh, oh!
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height!
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Let's go fly a kite!

  1. Nice photos! Is that you in the blue shirt with the kite, or were you the one taking the photos?

I love that song from Mary Poppins. . . I really like that movie - my siblings tease for liking it so. . . they think it's a baby show or something. :P

  2. Hmmm, no that's not me. That's brother Nathan. There's one other photo that I didn't put in this post, but it's on my Flickr page - it's got me in it, but it's not a very exciting picture.

I took some of the pics - but I think most of these are ones Dad took.

Oh yes, what a great movie - Julie Andrews outshines herself. Oh and Dick Van Dyke too of course.

  3. Yeah. . . I find Dick Van Dyke's accent a tad annoying, though. But Julie Andrews thoroughly deserved that Oscar!

By the way - I don't know if you're interested, but I've given you a blog award:

  6. Nathan says...

    "nah mate its like this..."

with 50 bucks for a kite
though make sure you dont fly it at night
    coz when the wind dies
thats not when a kite flys
mate the next thing that'll happen
    is the kite'll stop flappin
and then yor in a bit of a fix
it'll fly into a tree full of stix'
and'll get cought onbranches and leaves
mate no matter of pulls will get it down
and you'll end the day with a frown >:(

    thanks for reading... :)
