No More Free Milk at School - Now it's Free Abortions

Back in the post-war years, up until my parents were at school, children were given a glass, or bottle of milk at school in an effort to increase the healthiness of Kiwi kids. That stopped in 1967. And in 1977 New Zealand got it's "Contraception, Sterilisation and Abortion Act" - a relatively pro-life act which declared that abortions would only be legal if the mother's life or health were in serious, life-threatening danger. Since then, the law has become farcaical, and New Zealand now has child-killing on demand. Below is an account I was sent, of an abortion committed against a sixteen-year-old Kiwi girl, and her pre-born baby that took place in Wellington, New Zealand just recently.

"I have been extremely saddened and quite shocked this week to learn that a friend of my daughter had an abortion last year when she had just turned 16. I know the parents fairly well and they are fabulous parents who have given the world to their kids and they have been very involved in their lives, supporting them at sports and after school activities over the years. The most shocking part of this story for me is that unfortunately this girl has gotten pregnant, gone to the school councilor instead of her parents and, without consulting the parents, the school councilor has taken her to Wellington for an abortion (after taking her to the KYS first).

That was last year and the girl has still not told her parents. I am sure you are all with me on this in terms of feeling horrified that this has been allowed to happen but I really want to know what legislation is in force that allows a school councilor to take this responsibility? I don’t believe there is any! I know those parents and they have had their rights taken away from them and the girl was definitely not mature enough to realize that the love and support she could have received from her parents was what she needed then – whatever outcome they chose together. She just knew she had been “naughty” and didn’t want to get into trouble."

Unfortunately, this legislation is in force, in the form of an amendment to the Care of Children Act. The Care of Children Act establishes that children under the age of 16 are not permitted to undergo medical procedures without their parent's consent. However it makes one exception...

Section 38 of the Care of Children Act 2004: Consent to abortion
1. If given by a female child (of whatever age), the following have the same effect as if she were of full age:
(a) a consent to the carrying out on her of any medical or surgical procedure for the purpose of terminating her pregnancy by a person professionally qualified to carry it out; and
(b) a refusal to consent to the carrying out on her of any procedure of that kind.

2. This section overrides section 36.

Section 36 had declared that children under 16 could not undergo any medical procedures without parental consent, however Section 38 comes along and removes this. Abortion is one of the most dangerous and life-changing experiences that any young girl could go through, and this aspect of our abortion law is therefore unprincipled on an unprecedented level. Gianna Jessen's mother was 17 when she chose to have an abortion. The abortionist used the saline-abortion method which both poisons and burns the child in-utero, until it dies - almost always a long and painful death. The saline solution (salt-water) is injected into the womb via a very large syringe. Gianna was burned alive for approximately 18 hours in the womb, in the saline solution. However she was delivered alive, and is today a beautiful and corageous voice for life, speaking internationally about her experience, and about the awful reality of abortion which is hidden behind the glossy brochures and deceptive platitudes from the pro-child killing lobby. As Gianna says - "if abortion is about women's rights, then where were mine?" Abortion is not a choice, it is painful, disgusting, and degrades women. It is shameful that our Government not only funds killing approximately 18,000 pre-born babies every year, but that it also funds the public-schools which promote abortion as an acceptable option - more desirable than adoption, - and further, arrange for young school-girls to have the foetus growing inside them, to be murdered.

NZ Needs a School Voucher System

...for the same reason that ACC should be sold to the private sector or shut down, and compulsory health-insurance through private firms be implemented.  Below is an excerpt from Dr. Muriel Newman's latest article for the New Zealand Centre for Political Research entitled, Time to Modernise Education...

"We believe that the growing role that government has played in financing and administering schooling has led not only to enormous waste of taxpayers’ money but also to a far poorer educational system than would have developed had voluntary cooperation continued to play a larger role." - Milton and Rose Friedman, “Free to Choose”.

It is 193 years since the first school opened its doors in New Zealand. On August 12th, 1816 Thomas Kendall established a missionary school for 33 pupils at Rangihoua in the northern Bay of Islands.[1] Seven years later in 1923 a second missionary school was opened near the Stone Store in Kerikeri, and this time adult students were permitted.

As New Zealand’s settler population increased, education flourished. Those early schools were private enterprises, run largely by the churches. It wasn’t until 1852, when the Constitution Act established the provinces that councils began to assume responsibility for education.[2] By 1867 schools were spread throughout the country, including secondary colleges in the major population centres. There were even plans for a University.

However, in 1877 the Education Act changed the face of schooling in New Zealand, with responsibility for education passing onto central government through the imposition of a national system of “free, compulsory, and secular” education. This move effectively socialised education in New Zealand, with the result that for the last 142 years, the government has effectively been responsible for the funding, regulation, and delivery of primary and secondary education services in this country. The problem is, however – as Milton and Rose Friedman pointed out in their opening quote - that whenever a monopoly provider is protected from competition, the incentives for improving services, increasing quality, lifting productivity, innovating, or minimising costs are either very weak or altogether absent.

An education-voucher system is the obvious step ahead if the Government hopes to combat New Zealand's bleak academic horizon. Rather than forcing parents to effectively pay twice for their child's education if they opt for a private-school, a school-voucher system would enable the parents to direct the child-specific government funding to the school of their choice, be it a state school or a private school. Confronted with a host of higher-performing private schools, it would quickly become evident that there was no longer any need for the State to run any primary/secondary educational institutions.

Dr. Muriel Newman was a founding member of the ACT Party, and served from 1996 - 2005 as a Member of Parliament. She now runs the New Zealand Centre for Political Research (NZCPR), a high-profile conservative think-tank which embraces economic liberalism.

German Govt. Looking Back to Totalitarian Past

Concerned at any form of teaching which contradicts the ideology of "The State" of Germany, the German Government has banned home-education as well as enforcing a number of other anti-family, ultimately anti-freedom restrictions on its citizens. This is a prime case of a government being scared of its people and acting preemptively to silence objectors. LifeSiteNews reports,

Alliance Defense Fund attorneys are representing two German parents in an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights filed Tuesday. The two parents were convicted under German law when they chose to educate their child at home on the subject of sexuality rather than allow her to participate in a four-day "sexual education" course and related stage production at her school, both of which taught views of sexuality in conflict with the family's Christian faith.

"Parents, not the government, are the ones ultimately responsible for making educational choices for their children," said ADF Legal Counsel Roger Kiska. - LifeSiteNews 22/4/09

I completely concur with the sentiments of Roger Kiska, and with the actions of the girl's parents. The parents have the inalienable duty and inherent right to make choices for their own children. They did not remove their daughter from any other school programs or classes.

(Obviously there are cases where parents are abusive and in these situations the children should be passed over to the care of relatives or the local community.)

It is bad enough that Germany has compulsory school education for all children, but to include such extra-academic subjects as sex-education, and force children to sit through it - whatever their convictions - or the beliefs of their parents, is patently unjust.

Feeling Lucky?

...well, do ya punk? Not if you know that every other teacher at the school is carrying a gun and knows how to use it.

Charl van Wyk at WND.com presents the option of arming school-teachers,

Could an armed teacher have made a difference? Of course. Surely a teacher with a gun in the hand would have been better than a cop on the phone. The incident proves what has long been known: The only person who can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun – nobody else will be of much help

Abortion: No Parental Consent Required

Sit down before you read this.

"A spokesman for Justice Minister Annette King confirmed that a child of any age could get an abortion without parental consent, and that legislation had not changed since 1978." - Stuff, 8 September

This is beyond ridiculous. In a country where the Government bans television advertising of high-sugar/fatty foods during periods where high numbers of children are watching TV, those same children are permitted (even encouraged, by the friendly counsellors at your local state school), to have an abortion. Without even the decency to tell the girl's parents.

The article also says,

"The issue was highlighted this week by a Nelson mother who is calling for a review of abortion laws after her 15-year-old daughter was booked in for an abortion without her mother's knowledge.
The student -- whom the Nelson Mail has agreed not to identify -- had the operation on Wednesday but her mother said she only found out about the planned procedure when it came up during an argument on Monday.
But a school counsellor had known about it and, although unable to tell the mother due to privacy concerns, did not do enough to encourage the girl to inform her parents, the mother said.
Her daughter had told her it was common for students to get abortions without their parents' knowledge, and they were often helped by school counsellors." - Stuff, 8 September

Sick. To think that these agents of the state would take advantage of young girls (no matter how young they are), and "counsel" them in favour of having abortion. Almost worse, is that New Zealand's law apparently permits them to do this behind the back of mum and dad, blissfully unaware of the state-interference in their daughter's body. Dad mowing the lawn and mum hanging out the washing while their thirteen-year-old daughter is down at the local abortion-mill having a living baby killed inside her.

If you were still looking for a good reason not to send your children to a state school, stop looking. This is happening down the road, behind the fences of your local state institution.

Homosexual Brainwashing of Public School Children

Here is a podcast from the Chalcedon Foundation, entitled "Interview with Investigative Journalist Lee Duigon on the Homosexual Brainwashing of Public School Children". It is well worth a listen. One really good point that was raised was that people have the right to be homosexuals, but they do not have the right to force their homosexual agenda on others.

Why are traditional relationships and families coming under increasing attack from Western governments, while at the same time, countless millions of tax-payers dollars are being poured into programs designed to normalise homosexuality and so-called "families" with same-sex "parents". Sex-education has as much a right to be a part of state school curriculum as does creationism for instance (that is, none).

This issue of public schools teaching children to embrace and experiment with homosexuality is yet another example of how the US Government and our own government are using state-schools as their chief means of social engineering. (And that's why they hate home-education)

Let me just say as a disclaimer, I do not hate homosexuals.

Policeman Escorting Girl to School Daily

You know there is something horribly wrong when you hear of (yet another) Government program which has been created to ensure that children stay at school. The "Rock On" scheme is a 16-week programme, aimed at cutting truancy levels in New Zealand.

"There's an informal conference held at the school, where some of the agencies get together, along with the school, and discuss what the issues are." - said Senior Sergeant John Robinson, who's duty it is to escort a fourteen-year-old girl to Linwood College, Christchurch - every single morning.

Family First spokesman Bob McCoskrie responded,

"A dangerous precedent is being set by the police by taxiing a truanting 14 year old to school every morning, and fails to deal with the underlying problems... In this case, reported from Christchurch and under a new scheme called Rock On, the police are simply fulfilling the role of the parent and are providing a short term solution to a potentially longer term problem.” - www.familyfirst.org.nz

However, Linwood College principal Rob Burrough said,

the student was back at school and doing well. "She's not a bad kid; it's just she hadn't been turning up to school," he said. "Sometimes the tough-love approach is the best way because it is a shock to students when mum or dad is going to get prosecuted because they're not going to school." He was delighted with the support of the police in taking the girl to school each day. - www.stuff.co.nz

I find it intriguing, but typical that the Government are so desperate for every last child to be attending school. They offer 20 hours of free state-funded child-minding for all three - four year-old children, so that mothers can get out of the home, away from the children, and back into the workforce. They also punish parents who do not send their children to state schools, by charging them for the service anyway. The agenda is coming through loud and clear, our present government is sold on the idea of social change (to put it politely), achieved through the state-schooling system.

Truth

In John's Gospel, Chapter eight and verse two, Jesus Christ says to his listeners, "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free". King Solomon says - as to his son, in Proverbs 3:3,

"Let not mercy and truth forsake you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart"

In John 17:17, Jesus says - speaking of God the Father, "Your word is truth", and then in John 18:37, "Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice". And again, in Deuteronomy 32:4, Moses writes that God is "a God of Truth". The word Truth is used in the Bible no less than 224 times.

In John Bunyan's all-time #2 best-seller, Pilgrim's Progress, Christian - the main character, and his companion Faithful are walking through Vanity Fair. As they pass through this ungodly mess, "One chanced mockingly, beholding the carriage of the men, to say unto them, "What will ye buy?" But they, looking gravely upon him, answered, "We buy the truth."." - quoting from Proverbs 23:23.

From this small selection of references, we see that the Bible holds truth in high esteem.

It should come to us as no surprise then, when we find that secular curriculums worldwide are striving to teach that there is no such thing as truth. The concept of truth is actively attacked and undermined. Students are informed that there is no ultimate truth, no right or wrong. There is only what they believe to be true and false - and what society believes to be right and wrong. No explanation is given for the obvious and inherent inconsistencies that result from this teaching. Some even say that "yes, there are right and wrong, true and false" - but that these are derived from Reason. All I can say to that is "what is Reason, and how do you know that it is necessarily true?".

Take the high-school students of today as a prime example of a generation without hope. I walk down the boulevards and can't do anything but feel an intense pity for the young people I see around me. They are sent to state-run schools, more often than not against their will. Here they are instructed in the religion of atheism. They are taught the gospel of evolution, whose logical conclusion is that it's students are merely advanced apes, evolved from slime an almost inconceivably long time ago. We are creating for ourselves a new generation of hopeless citizens. There is no ultimate purpose to their lives; there is only now and me.

We look around us and wonder why everything's falling to pieces. Why the child-abuse, the rapes, the murders, the suicides? Why do we have a binge-drinking problem? Well, without truth, can we even say that we have a problem?

What's Wrong with Public Schools?

Leaving aside the philosophical argument, or the Scriptural basis against the very concept of public schools, how about this...

Fathers Day cards banned at schools

"Primary schools throughout Scotland banned children from making Fathers Day cards to avoid upsetting children from single-mother or lesbian homes.

The policy, which affected thousands of children, was adopted by schools in Glasgow, Edinburgh, East Renfrewshire, Dumfries and Galloway and Clackmannanshire...

..teachers are expected to behave with common sense but be sensitive to “the changing pattern of family life.”

Matt O’Connor, founder of campaign group Fathers For Justice, said: “I’m astonished at this. It totally undermines the role and significance of fathers”.

"Children as young as 11 have on-site access to contraception, abortion advice and tests for pregnancy and sex bugs at one third of secondary schools, a new survey reveals.

The survey of over 2,000 secondary schools in England also finds that one in six schools are giving out the morning-after pill.

Most parents are not told if their child makes use of such sex services.

There was an outcry in 2004 when a 14-year-old school girl was given abortion pills without her mother’s knowledge.

The girl was advised at her school’s sex clinic by a 28-year-old health worker.

Recent official figures showed a dramatic jump in the number of abortions carried out on girls aged under 14 – up 21 per cent in just one year.

Despite this, sex education activists have welcomed the rapid spread of school sex clinics and called for sex lessons to be made mandatory starting at age five..."

The Harsh Truth About Public Schools

Bruce Shortt has written a book entitled "The Harsh Truth About Public Schools," presents myriad reasons why government institutions are failing America's children and thumbing their noses at parents with a religious worldview. In this, he writes from a biblical perspective, presenting rigorous research about the agenda and effect of government schooling on the nation's young people. I am keen to get my hands on a copy of this book, which was published three years ago. Below are a few excerpts from WorldNetDaily's article on the book.

"Contrary to what many Christians have been led to believe, there is no such thing as a 'neutral' education," Shortt writes. "All education is religious and conveys a worldview, and there is no more important decision that we make as parents than how we educate our children."...

...In the book, Shortt documents the pitfalls of public schools, saying the anti-Christian thrust of the governmental school system produces inevitable results: "moral relativism (no fixed standards), academic dumbing down, far-left programs, near absence of discipline and the persistent but pitiable rationalizations offered by government education professionals."...

...Shortt makes his argument by citing a school district in Texas. "There is no public school district in the country that has more Christians in the community or in the schools than that of Plano, Texas," he said. "In fact, the largest and most powerful church in the state of Texas, Prestonwood Baptist, is located in Plano. Yet, it took a court order to force the Plano schools to allow Christian school children to privately give classmates Christmas gifts that had a Christian message. Moreover, the school district had even prohibited schoolchildren from bringing red and green napkins to the school 'holiday' parties for fear the colors might remind someone of Christmas.

I completely agree with Bruce. It never ceases to amaze me at how desperate parents are to surrender the minds of their children to the State. "They've got to face it at some time in their lives", they tell me. Absolutely, at some stage we all need to let go of the apron-strings. But handing your children to State institutions from the age of three is just wrong. And let's just not talk about the fact that these institutions are entirely tax-payer funded. Brrrrrrr! Parental Authority and Public Schools

World Net Daily has an article by Monday columnist Vox Day (21 April 08) which looks at the role of the Government in society. An excerpt is below, click here for the entire article.

"...not since the Waco massacre have I been so completely appalled by an American government action. The recent kidnapping of 416 children from their Fundamentalist LDS parents by Texas Child Protective Service agents is a unconscionable abnegation of not only the United States and Texas constitutions, but a rejection of the very meaning of what it is to be an American. For as P.J. O'Rourke rightly declares: "There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please."

Contrary to what a disturbing percentage of the voting population appears to believe, "protecting the children" is not a legitimate function of government. The concept appears nowhere in any constitution, and the very idea that the most lethal institution in human history, an institution that has killed more children than any other, can even be used to protect children is inherently oxymoronic. The state does not own the children whose families happen to reside within its boundaries and it does not possess the right to dictate what is and what is not a proper way for a family to raise its children.

Consider this absurd justification for the mass kidnappings offered by Angie Voss, the CPS kidnapper in chief, offered as an explanation for the mysterious preference of the abused women to remain with their supposed abusers instead of availing themselves of government shelters: "This population of women has a difficult time making decisions on their own." If a distaste for decision-making is legitimate grounds for removing children from their mothers, then there won't be a woman in America left with a child to call her own!..."

In another article, (3 March 08), Vox exposes the crumbling public education system in America. He quotes the College of Education at California State University, Sacramento...

There are four main goals that we have and will continue to focus on in the college, which are expressed in the acronym TEACH:
Transformative Leadership
Equity and Social Justice
Action
Collaboration
Human Differences and Diversity

Vox responds,

"Of course, they only teach education, not mathematics, so one shouldn't expect these professional educators to be able to count to five. Perhaps they expect that "one-two-three-many" should suffice for the intellectually lobotomized victims of their trained thought-executioners, after all, we're reliably informed that it's enough for rabbits. A keen observer might also note that nowhere in the concepts expressed by these fiver main goals is anything even remotely related to a traditional education as the average parent understands one to be."

And then a little further down, encourages parents to withdraw their children from such institutions...

There is no point in attempting to fix such a lethally poisoned institution. Let the male teachers withdraw en masse from the system; they are not wanted anyway. Let no child be left behind as the illiterate and innumerate graduate with their meaningless degrees. Let the universities continue to devolve into remedial reading programs for unmarried women. Embrace the failures of the system with enthusiasm, because the sooner complete control is turned over to the cave-dwelling control freaks who seek to run it, the sooner the schools will collapse in ruins. Knowledge will still be accessible to those who seek it.

One cannot fix what is not broken, and the schools are working as they are designed to work. This is not a battle that can be fought and won; it is not a battle that should be fought. Homeschooling is but a stop-gap; in the long term, it is technology that will put an end to the 100-year American experiment with Prussian pragmatism. But until that day, do whatever you must to extricate your children from the system, teach them well and watch with confidence in the future as the professional educators immolate themselves and their system in a self-administered act of faith.
