Chauvel and Goff

In our New Zealand Politics paper today, we were privileged to be delivered a lecture by the (token) leader of the Opposition, The honourable Phil Goff. Also in attendance were Phil's office-lady, an ecstatic looking Brendan Burns (Tim Barnett's replacement as MP for Waimakarari), and the ever-uninspiring back-bencher list MP, Charles Chauvel.

Chauvel, Burns, office-lady

Phil's lecture was informative as he explained to us his experience of being in Parliament as well as answering a few questions regarding Labour, the 2008 election, and the general workings of Parliament. His three colleagues sat and listened to their leader, with Chauvel popping up at one stage to pass Phil a note telling him that "he had 10 minutes left". Phil read the note out loud and we all laughed; Chauvel and Brendan exchanged a few whispered, seemingly humourous comments - as MPs do when they're nervous or confused.

David Garret (ACT's Law and Order man) told me that Burns is a remarkably nice man to work with in Parliament - so despite his FAIL billboard and my run-in with him on abortion at a public forum, I haven't got too much against him; he sat bolt upright, switched on throughout the entire ordeal.

Chauvel on the other hand was his usual, arrogant self. While the other guests left their cellphones in their pockets, and their briefcases stacked near the wall, backbencher Chauvel obviously felt compelled to make the most of the indespensible 50 minute slot to get some work out of the way. He looked at - or used his cellphone several times throughout the lecture, as well as shuffling through various files from his bag, making notes here and there; catching up on office work while supposedly engaging in a teaching/campaigning opportunity with a room full of bright young, future politicians. The paper shuffling and sorting went on for well over half the lecture. Brendan, the office-lady and our lecturer shot the occasional concerned glance in Chauvel's direction but he didn't appear to catch on. Simply reinforce for me the fact that he's a drain on the tax-payer and we'd be better off not having people like him in Parliament. (Click here to see some of his speeches)

Some students asked ridiculous questions such as "I really want to enter Parliament, but I'm concerned about corruption...", or "What is the favourite part of your job as leader of the Opposition"... However, one or two asked a decent question, for instance, why had Labour passed the Electoral Finance Bill, and then been happy to vote for it's repeal once National was in power. "Oh... we knew it wasn't perfect when we passed it... we want to discuss a new approach with National..." (not verbatim) was the weak response.

Phil's done twenty-five years in Parliament now - 15 years in government, and he's currently in his 10th year of opposition. I wonder if he's got it in him to lead the Labour party to the '11 election.

Labour Burns

Thanks to Brendan Burns' campaign team who put the billboard up. They are going to be devestated on Sunday 9 November when they hear that Nicky Wagner of National has finally torn the strong Labour seat of Christchurch Central off them.
Thanks to Ian Wishart for the photo of the billboard.

Party Vote Greens

The Labour Party and the Green Party are pushing for a ban on conventional light-bulbs, in favour of the "power-saving", safety light-bulbs. There have been many reports of these fluroescent eco-bulbs blowing up...

"My mother has had 3 of these light-bulbs explode in her house."
"3 of our eco-bulbs simply died within a matter of months"
"these bulbs dangerous, they are very fragile and i have had a couple break in my hand, while changeing them"

Polygamy Next up on Labour's Agenda

The maiden issue of Ian Wishart's compelling new weekly newspaper, TGIF (Thank God it's Friday) launches with a killer of a expose on the deceit, and the dark agenda of the Labour Party.  Family First has the article on their website (click here to read it).  Seriously, read it.

I'm not surprised in the least by revelations of Labour's agenda to legalise polygamy and "so on" as Ruth Dyson so vaguely puts it.  If adultery is all ok, if homosexual relationships are to be officially recognised under the law, why should it come as any surprise to us that now they want to legalise polygamy?  Bob McCoskrie of Family First responded “I don’t think it’s surprising, the argument for civil unions was all about taking down boundaries."

Dyson made the comments in a speech given to Victoria University students back in May, but at the time the media did not pick up on her dangerous and revelutionary propositions.  Laughable, is the despicable response of Ruth Dyson's spokesman Rob McCann who denied the existence of her speech after hurriedly deleting it from off the Beehive website.  "Unfortunately for your story", he responded to Ian's request for more information on the speech, "that was not the speech the minister delivered".  Of course, Rob was not reckoning for Google's amazing Cache.  You can view the cached page by clicking here.

It just sickens me to think of the pack of low down, lying beurocrats up in Wellington.  For the most part, they are nothing more than a parasite on the wallets of hard-working Kiwis.  They are using our money for their dark and immoral agenda.

breaking illegal laws

Hi to regular readers and visitors to my blog. I've been pretty full out since Sunday evening, when, as I was doing the dishes, I had the idea to start up www.dontvotelabour.org.nz. This morning at 9:20am, I will be having my seventh Radio interview on Newstalk ZB (click here to listen online). Friday 4 Jan we started the forum. As of Friday night the site has recieved aproximately 120,000 hits. Word is spreading fast as the sidebar ad makes it's way around the web - and info on the site can now be found on several overseas websites and blogs.

Googling "dontvotelabour.org.nz" returns 570 results.

God has been very good to me over this time, and despite the late nights and hard work, I am going strong, by His Grace. Many friends and people I have never met before are standing alongside me, standing up for freedom of speech.

I am reminded of the prophecy of Isaiah 9:6-7 that would be fulfilled in Jesus Christ, hundreds of years later...

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of His government and peace
There will beno end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

And, Psalm 2 says:

Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure.

Terrible, Fearful, Solemn words. God is in control. Those who have put their trust in Jesus' death and righteousness alone for their salvation are not afraid though. Because they know that All things work together for good - for Christians.

Our New Zealand Government has further betrayed the country that it was entrusted to serve. They have repeatedly blatantly ignored New Zealand as a whole; pursuing their terrible agenda, they care nothing for the freedom and well-being of the citizens of our once free land.
